Common Questions
Why Does It Need A University Email?
UptakeX is built for one campus at a time, and the people you can see are people who eat where you eat. Sign-up checks that your address belongs to a supported university. If yours is not supported yet, write in and say which one.
I Did Not Get The Confirmation Email
Check spam first. University mail systems are aggressive filters. If it is not there after ten minutes, request a new link from the sign-in page, and if that also fails, email support with the address you used.
How Do I Delete My Account?
Settings, then Delete Account, in the app. It removes your logs, weights, goals and profile. Email support if you cannot get into the app to do it, and the same deletion will be done for you.
The Calorie Estimate Looks Wrong
Edit the entry. Estimates come from a language model reading your description, and a description that omits oil, dressing or portion size will read low. Correcting an entry corrects the day.
Health Data
UptakeX reads steps and active energy from Apple Health, and never writes to it. Revoke access at any time in the iOS Health app under Sharing, Apps. The app keeps working; it just stops adjusting your goal for how much you moved.
If You Are Struggling
Calorie tracking is not right for everyone, and for some people it makes things worse. If tracking is making you anxious, if you are restricting, or if food is taking up more of your day than you want it to, please talk to someone. In the United States, the National Alliance for Eating Disorders helpline is 1-866-662-1235. In an emergency, call 988 or your local emergency number.
